Our editorial team, Jörg-Peter Rau, Keith James and I, join in wishing all our readers a wonderful Christmas break and joyful celebration of your own holy days, leading up to a photo-filled New Year.
Here at Macfilos Towers, while stuffing ourselves with turkey and the usual trimmings, we are reflecting on a busy 2023. We will publish a more comprehensive review of the year soon. But today, we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to the site this year. Without authors, commenters, and of course, thousands of readers who check in so regularly, there would be no Macfilos.
A few months ago, for the first time, we invited contributions to help support the running costs of the site. The response was terrific, and we received donations which will cover over 50% of the expenditure for the year. A special thanks to everyone who made a contribution. We greatly appreciate your support.
However, the year is not over yet! We will continue to post stories next week, including a look at the most popular articles of the last quarter.
Highlights
The last few months have seen many highlights, but the opportunity to join Leica’s very own Peter Karbe on a photo-walk through London stood out for me. It seemed only fitting that Peter, Leica Q3 around his neck, standing next to a red mini covered in Christmas decorations, should feature in today’s post.
Perhaps you will be on the receiving end of a Leica-themed gift today: a camera, a lens, a filter, or a thumb grip. Or, perhaps a book on photography. Whatever comes your way, we hope you take a few pictures of the celebrations.
Finally, here’s an image of someone you might have seen around recently. Who would have guessed — he’s a keen photographer too!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from us all.
A cup of coffee works wonders in supporting Macfilos
Did you know that Macfilos is run by a dedicated team of volunteers? We rely on donations to help pay our running costs. And even the cost of a cup of coffee will do wonders for our energy levels.
Happy holidays, and a very happy, and trouble-free, New Year 2024.
